Who creates the content
Guides are prepared by the Find Law Firm editorial team. That byline describes organisational responsibility; it is not a claim that the material has been written or reviewed by a legal practitioner. Where qualified legal review occurs, the reviewer and review date will be stated on the page. We do not invent authors, qualifications or lawyer endorsements.
What editorial pages are for
Editorial pages help a reader describe a piece of work, understand a area-of-law label and prepare questions for a lawyer. They do not interpret a reader’s documents, identify rights, calculate a deadline, recommend a strategy or select a suitable firm. Content is written for an Australian audience but identifies when rules and processes can differ by jurisdiction.
How sources are selected
We prefer current primary and public-interest sources: Australian government agencies, courts, tribunals, regulators, legal assistance bodies and industry organisations. A source link is placed beside the proposition or guide it supports. Sources have their own scope and may change; readers should open the source and confirm that it remains relevant to their situation.
Law Firm data and verification
Law firm pages draw on a shared Australian legal-services data source. An information check can compare published contact and office facts, but it is not a lawyer-registration check. Law firms with a contact-identity concern have contact links withheld and are excluded from indexing. The remaining law firm pages still require independent verification before confidential information or money is sent.
Featured firms and ordering
Lawyer search pages may place sponsored firms first. Sponsored status is identified on the law firm page and is not an assessment of skill, value, suitability or likely outcome. Remaining ordering uses information-quality and law-firm-name fields. Information quality measures completeness of the published information, not the quality of legal services.
Review dates and substantive updates
A visible review date notes when the page’s sources, links and scope were checked. Dates are changed only when a substantive review occurs; they are not automatically refreshed to make content appear new. Major changes to law or official processes may require a page to be amended, qualified or temporarily removed from indexing.
Corrections
A firm, practitioner, regulator or member of the public can submit a factual correction through the lawyer information correction form. We ask for the precise law firm page, the field to be checked, the requester's relationship to the firm and an authoritative public source where possible. A submission is not accepted automatically: evidence is reviewed and accepted changes retain their source in the private data history. The form must not be used for client or legal-matter details.
